in getInstalledPackages, make sure we aren't storing empty version numbers; store "0.0.0.0.0" instead. (distutils.version.LooseVersion throws an exception when given an empty string.)

Managed Software Update

Changes to eliminate "WebKit Threading Violation" errors from the log; now use self.performSelectorOnMainThread_withObject_waitUntilDone_ to make sure the description is updated on the main thread.
